How to Setup OpenVPN using Ubuntu Network Manager; describes the configuration of OpenVPN on Ubuntu 14.04 using the built in, (Ubuntu OpenVPN)
1.) First, open a terminal and enter the following command to install the Network Manager
Plugin for OpenVPN.
Type the following
command in terminal:
$ sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn
2.) Next, download the PotentVPN OpenVPN config files and save and unzip them to
your Desktop. You receive the file openvpn on the Email vpn info after odering a vpn.
3.) Click the network manager icon in the top menu bar and select “Edit Connections…”
4.) In the Network
Connections box click “add”.
5.) On the dropdown menu click “Import a saved VPN Configuration” and click create…
6.) Next, we need to select one of the potentvpn OpenVPN configs for the server you’d like to connect to.
In our example, we are connecting to potentvpn.USA ovpn
7.) All the needed OpenVPN settings will now be imported. In the Username and Password area
enter the PotentVPN VPN login info that we sent your vpn info. Click Save.
8.) The VPN connection has now been added to your Network Manager Connections list!
You can now click the network manager icon in the top menu bar, Select “VPN Connections”
Then click the name of the PotentVPN VPN server you want to connect to and you should get this after a succesful connection:
